Busy working on a new prototype this week, but glad I found time for an evening beach trip with some friends.
Clinics prototype
This week I’ve been focusing on creating a first prototype to explore how we might help clinics run more efficiently.
RAVS is efficient already, but we have some findings and feedback from users about it being frustrating sometimes when recording repeat vaccine events back-to-back, if they know in advance some things won’t change from patient to patient.
It’s really become 2 distinct prototype flows now.
One is an enhancement to our existing appointments feature that explores how front desk staff might “check-in” patients and begin the recording journey in advance.
The other explores how we might set default answers for clinics, e.g. when users visit a care home to do a mass vaccinations.
In both cases, our users might know who the patients are and what vaccination they are having in advance.
Our team found various design history posts that were really helpful so I’m going to save the rest of my write up and commit to starting a design history post next week.
London trip
Next week I’m heading out for some field research and another trip to the London office. Looking forward!
I decided to treat myself to a bigger hotel room this team. Think I need it. Although I’ve been informed that it’s not in the best area. Wish me luck!
Start of the autumn winter vaccination season
1st of October was the start of the vaccination season. So far so good. The work the team have put into onboarding new users and improving the technical performance seems to be paying off in a big way.
Today (Saturday) will be a big one, so let’s hope there’s more good news about how the weekend vaccinations go when we’re back in next week.
I can’t claim any credit for any of it really but it’s great to see!
Sea swim and a half marathon
Earlier in the week I went for a swim after work at Three Cliffs in Gower. The sea was warm(ish) and we stayed until it got dark for a bbq.
It made me want to do this kind of thing a lot more. I want to make the most of living so close to the coast.
Lastly, I’m running Cardiff half again tomorrow. I’ve kept it quiet this time as we surely don’t need another middle aged white guy going on about running.
